KINGFISHER PRAWN CREEL

This 22” prawn creel is the original Kingfisher creel and has proved itself as a popular and reliable option for the prawn sector. It is made using an 8mm plastic coated steel frame with a series of solid plastic panels that clip onto the frame securely. The result is prawn creel that is much more hard wearing than a netted and roped prawn creel but which hasn’t lost any of the fishing ability of the traditional version.

FEATURES

In order to make the creels as versatile and easy to use as possible we have added a number of features. The entrance ring on the plastic eye has a removable insert that allows the eye to be changed from a 60mm to a 75mm ring and back again without the use of cable ties and clips. This allows fishermen to change between prawn and velvet fishing easily, providing fishermen with maximum versatility and making the creels as effective as possible on each fishery. There is also a built in escape panel on the door of the creel which can be cut out by those fishermen who wish to allow the juvenile prawns to escape. Fishermen can also have the new bait tube fitted to prawn creels. This eliminates the risk of bait being sliced through by the bait string during self shooting as well as many other benefits. See the new “BAITER” section on the Stornoway Plastics home page.

OPTIONS

STANDARD PRAWN CREEL

This is a 22” creel complete with all plastic panels and eyes, bait string and built in removable inserts to change between 75mm and 60mm. This creel can also be used on velvets.

PRAWN CREEL WITH NET EYE

This is identical to the Standard Prawn Creel only with netted eyes either with a 75mm or 60mm ring instead of plastic eyes. Ideal for those who want to take advantage of all the benefits of Kingfisher Creels but prefer to use the traditional eye.

OPTIONAL WEIGHT BARS

All these velvet creels have the option of being fitted with extra weight bars to the bottom of the creel. This makes the creel much heavier, thus giving extra stability against the tide and rough conditions.

BAITING SYSTEM

There are 3 options of baiting system available for Kingfisher Velvets.

Bait String – this simple and traditional option is familiar to all fishermen.

Bait Tube - See the “BAITER” section on the Stornoway Plastics home page for more details.

Bait Bag – this allows fishermen to choose the same tried and tested system as on net and roped creels.

Both these options are available with either bait string or bait tube. (See the “BAITER” section on the Stornoway Plastics home page for more details.)

They are available in a choice of colour: green, white or black.
